Oral Local Anaesthesia Refresher Workshop

Description:
Local Anaesthesia is a safe and reliable method of reducing pain for our patients.

New technology is available to try and reduce pain experienced whilst injecting, however, it is still a daunting and anxiety provoking part of the dental experience.

Dr Mellish will not only review the practical techniques in LA, but shall provide tips on how to ease the experience for the patient.

The workshop will take place in James Cook University’s state-of-the-art Dental Simulation Lab, where you will practice Inferior Alveolar Nerve Blocks on phantom heads.

Leaving this workshop, you will feel confident in your LA technique with added mindfulness on providing a comfortable experience for your patients.

Worldwide research shows an alarming incidence of occupational chronic pain in the dental hygiene profession. Many hygienists have become accustomed to pain and discomfort, believing it is the price paid for being in the profession.

You did not receive training in how to gain access to your patients’ mouths without compromising your body.

  • Recognise harmful, habitual work postures and learn how to change them

Your inspirational instructor will ensure you have fun while providing you with technical guidance, tips on strengthening muscles that are used at work and the motivation to complete every exercise that you do.
