Kerry Stingel (B.OccThy) graduated from the University of Queensland in 1989 and has been working as an occupational therapist (OT) for 29 years. She is an accredited hand therapist with the Australian Hand Therapy Association (AHTA) and has completed post graduate study in pain management, lymphoedema management and soft tissue injury management.
Her private practice, Cairns Occupational Therapy, commenced in 1999 and currently has four OTs working in the practice. She has trained dozens of therapists. Prior to starting private practice she worked in both hospital and community based rehab and aged care in Cairns and Geelong.
Kerry’s work includes hand and upper limb therapy, pain management, lymphoedema management and post cancer care, work rehabilitation, medicolegal assessments and supervision of OTs and students. She is an active member of the FNQ Allied Health Association and an adjunct lecturer in the College of Medicine and Dentistry at James Cook University.
Kerry and her husband have three children, who are now 23, 20 and 15 years old. Kerry has been a volunteer breastfeeding counsellor and educator with the Australian Breastfeeding Association for the past 19 years. She is passionate about teamwork, supporting local service providers and developing the next generation of health professionals.
