Katrina Murphy is Managing Director of Katrina Murphy Industrial Relations and has more than 20 years extensive experience in employee relations and human resources management, industrial advocacy, investigation work and consulting to employers and professional associations.
Katrina started her own consulting company Kamcorp Industrial Relations in Melbourne in 1994 in Melbourne. Kamcorp became Katrina Murphy Industrial Relations in 2006, and is now based in Brisbane and consults to employer and professional association clients all over Australia.
She consults to employer clients in a very wide range of sectors and industries across all States of Australia. She maintains long term relationships with her clients, taking a close and personal interest in their businesses.
Prior to starting her consulting business, she held senior industrial relations management positions in Canberra with CSIRO and ACT Electricity and Water in Canberra, then in Melbourne with BTR Nylex, and the Victorian Employers Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Katrina has a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree in Political Science and Economics from the University of Queensland and has undertaken Graduate Law studies at ANU and Melbourne University, and has tutored in Political Science and Government at the University of Queensland.
She has been invited to provide industrial relations commentary for 3AW (Melbourne radio); ABC Radio Canberra, ABC Regional Radio Victoria, The Age and Herald Sun newspapers and SBS World News and regularly provides columns on IR initiatives for various professional and employer association publications. Katrina has conducted popular webinars for the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILTA), and is a frequent speaker for the CEO Institute and for other organisations.
Katrina has been involved in political lobbying for clients on both a State and Federal level for many years. She has sat on client boards and advised boards in both the private and public sectors.
A highly experienced public speaker and accredited management trainer, Katrina takes great pride and pleasure in providing effective, practical strategic management advice to KMIR’s employer and professional association clients.
