Feel Good Factor in Tassie

Image of the DHAA Tasmania full day CPD event really had the feel good factor

Tassie turned on the weather – a beautiful high of 14 degrees – for a full day CPD event at Peppers Seaport in Launceston, on Saturday 29 July.

Our four guest speakers for the day included:

  • Dr Alex Du Bois, Periodontist
  • Dr Yohan Thomas, Prosthodontist
  • Kerrie Wright, NLP Practitioner, Hypnotherapist, Health and Life Coach
  • Linda King, Physiotherapist

Linda King refreshed our knowledge on the impact of incorrect posture and ergonomics on the musculoskeletal system, after observation of some local hygienists. Dr Yohan Thomas emphasised the importance of planning and educating our patients on the importance of the maintenance phase of treatment to avoid future failure. Dr Alex Du Bois reinforced contributing periodontal risk factors, in particular how nutrition choices can influence inflammatory response, and Kerrie Wright helped us identify behaviour styles through the DISC model, to help us better communicate, educate and establish a rapport with our patients and colleagues.

On behalf of the DHAA, we wish to extend our appreciation to all the guest speakers for sharing their enthusiasm and expertise. Additionally, we would also like to thank our generous sponsors Colgate, EMS and GSK for their support. Without them we would not be able to offer such high-quality events.

EMS representative, Dr Annamaria Sordillio provided a fantastic trade display showcasing the latest Guided Biofilm Therapy Movement. We are excited to have EMS returning in 2018 for a Guided Biofilm Therapy master class– watch this space for more info!
