DHAA NT held a CPD afternoon to explore new territory at the Esplanade in Darwin on the 10 September, 2017.
Attendees heard from Darwin’s visiting periodontists Dr Chee and Dr Kobayashi, and oral health promotion dental therapist Jennifer Lang.
Dr Brian Chee discussed implants in periodontically-compromised implants and the integral role of hygienists in implant maintenance. Dr Kere Kobayashi reflected on the history of periodontology and maintenance phase of treatment.
Ms Jennifer Lang shared with attendees the Better Oral Health in Aged Care program, and initiatives for improving oral health access to refugees and children with autism.
The topics of the day linked well, with many delegates concerned about maintenance of oral health in our ageing population – particularly the thought of maintaining implants and other complex treatments done today on healthy adults that may one day be in aged care facilities.
The DHAA are very grateful to each of the presenters for taking time out of their busy schedules to present to our members.
We also want to extend a huge thank you to Colgate and Jenny Morgan, for sponsoring the event – the red Colgate lanyards looked fantastic on all of the attendees! Without Colgate’s valuable support, events like these would not be possible.
