Dr Vaibhav Garg

Vaibhav has worked in Oral Health and Public Health since 2012. Upon completing his Bachelor of Dental Surgery at the University of Adelaide his passion for rural and remote health began with his first job working as a Dentist in rural Central Wheatbelt, Western Australia.

His career in public health began with a Graduate Certificate in International Health. He participated in Development projects in remote Peru and Uganda. These projects strengthened Oral Health Care provision as part of an Integrated Primary Health model of care in low resource settings. Closer to home, he advocated for Pro-bono Oral Health Care provision for asylum seekers in Perth.

Most recently he has brought his clinical and public health expertise to the role of Senior Dentist and Manager Oral Health Program with the Royal Flying Doctor Service Central Operations. This Health Management role aims to provide a culturally appropriate and NSQHS Accredited Dental Service within an Integrated Primary Health approach to Chronic Disease management in remote Australia. This service is delivered to a range of stakeholders including Aboriginal communities in remote Central Australia, as well as remote communities in far-north South Australia.

Vaibhav continues to advocate for Dentistry as a profession and equitable health service provision for vulnerable communities through his positions as President and Country Councillor, Executive Council of the Australian Dental Association South Australia Branch. This work is further informed by his legal studies he is currently undertaking through a Bachelor of Law.

The Program continues to grow and make advances towards a more collaborative approach to health care for those in remote areas. Find out more at this workshop, which also includes interactive group learning.
