Lynda van Adrighem

 

Lynda van Adrighem is a dental hygienist who graduated from TAFESA in 1987.

I have been the Dental Hygienists Association of Australia past National Chair for Aged Care, and representative on the National Aged Care Alliance (NACA), and am current chair for Special Needs Special Interest Group.

She has worked in private practice for over 30 years, as a clinical tutor for 3rd year BOH and 3rd year BDS periodontal support and for SA Dental Service Country. For the last 7 years, Lynda has worked in many residential aged care facilities as a co-independent dental hygienist providing oral health assessments and simple oral care prevention to residents and education to staff. Recently she began working for RFDS in their Oral Health program visiting rural and remote communities.

Lynda has had experience as DHAA Treasurer, and represented the DHAA at the National Aged Care Alliance for several years. She is currently the representative of DHAA on the SAOHP (South Australian Oral Health Plan) working group and is chair of the DHAA Aged Care Special Interest Group.

Lynda enjoys reaching out to people of different cultures and diversities, finding out what their oral needs are and building partnerships that support good oral health.

Aged Care Workshop

 

This three hour workshop will be chaired by Lynda van Adrighem (Chair of the DHAA Aged Care Special Interest Group), and include guest presenters, open discussions and equipment and product demonstrations. The focus is on knowledge sharing and professional collaboration to allow attendees to receive support for working in aged care.

 

Learning outcomes:

  • Explore the potential for embarking on a career working in aged care as a dental provider
  • Further develop skills, knowledge and confidence for work in the aged care setting
  • Investigate products and equipment useful when treating older patients
  • Discuss aspects of initiating a new business as a dental provider
  • Learn from the experiences of colleagues already working as mobile dental providers in aged care
