Jacquie is dual trained and qualified in oral health and dental hygiene. Graduating from TAFESA (2010) and Adelaide University (2012) with awards in special care dentistry Jacquie has also extended her scope completing the Grad Cert in OHS also at Adelaide University (2018).

Working in Dentistry for over 17 years she has vast experience in many roles of the dental team and the dental industry. Jacquie is proud to be a company director, a business owner, a volunteer, a clinical educator and mentor. Jacquie’s passion lies with education and improving access to oral care through mobile dentistry.

Aged Care Workshop

 

This three hour workshop will be chaired by Lynda van Adrighem (Chair of the DHAA Aged Care Special Interest Group), and include guest presenters, open discussions and equipment and product demonstrations. The focus is on knowledge sharing and professional collaboration to allow attendees to receive support for working in aged care.

 

Learning outcomes:

  • Explore the potential for embarking on a career working in aged care as a dental provider
  • Further develop skills, knowledge and confidence for work in the aged care setting
  • Investigate products and equipment useful when treating older patients
  • Discuss aspects of initiating a new business as a dental provider
  • Learn from the experiences of colleagues already working as mobile dental providers in aged care

This panel discussion will explore how dental hygienists and oral health therapists can achieve sustainable careers, reflecting on our careers and experiences as clinicians, educators, and business owners. The panelists will share strategies we can all use to have diverse, satisfying, and successful work lives.

 

At the end of the session, participants will be able to: 

  • Describe the three key factors required for sustainable careers 
  • Apply strategies to achieve career sustainability in oral health
