Professor Paula Moynihan - Recommendations of diet from early childhood to aged care & the dental impact

Paula is an internationally renowned researcher in the field of nutrition and oral health with extensive research on the interrelationship between diet and oral health. She also researches novel approaches to dietary intervention using co-development methods, and mixed methods evaluation. Research projects include the evaluation of Public Health England’s Change4Life Sugar Smart Campaign, and evidence synthesis pertaining to risk factors for Early Childhood Caries – research that informed a 2020 WHO Toolkit on Ending Childhood Caries.

Sue Aldenhoven - History of the DHAA, 30 years

Sue who currently works full-time as a dental hygienist in an Adelaide general practice, began her career in dentistry as a dental assistant at the Adelaide Dental Hospital. Over the next few years she worked in a number of practices in South Australia as well as in Port Lincoln, the Barossa Valley and in the United Kingdom. After graduating as a dental hygienist in 1977 from the South Australian course, Sue first worked in general practice, then as a visiting dental hygienist for the South Australian Dental Services, then as a dental hygienist tutor before moving back into private practice. Sue is passionate about dental advocacy and has sat on the committee for the International Dental Hygienist Federation's Director for Australia, been a member of the Professional Conduct Tribunal, Dental Board of South Australia and played a vital role in initiating the DHAA.
