Biographies

Dr Louis Chan

Chinese Medicine Practitioner (MAppSc Acupuncture RMIT) Dentist (BDS Syd Uni)

Dr. Louis Chan is deeply invested in functional health, especially in orthodontics and TMJ treatment since 1998. His research aims to aid both children and adults in achieving optimal body health and facial symmetry.

Driven by a commitment to staying at the forefront of medical advancements, Dr. Chan has pursued numerous courses in orthopaedic orthodontics, sleep, and pain management. Notably, he completed TMJ & Sleep Therapy courses with the renowned Dr. Steven Olmos, leading him to assume ownership of the TMJ & Sleep Therapy Centre of Sydney in 2014.

In 2022, Dr. Chan attained a Master's Degree in Chinese Medicine Acupuncture from RMIT University, marking a significant milestone in his career. He is presently focused on integrating acupuncture into his TMD treatment and sleep therapy practices, further enhancing his ability to provide comprehensive care to his patients.

Associate Professor Sue Ching Yeoh

A/Prof Yeoh is an Oral Medicine Specialist who maintains a specialist private practice in Sydney as well as a clinical appointment at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, and Chris O’Brien Lifehouse.

Sue is the current course convenor of the Oral Medicine training program at the University of Sydney.

She is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (General and Special Fields Stream); the International College of Dentists; the Pierre Fauchard Academy; and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Glasgow.She is currently the President of the Oral Medicine Academy of Australasia (OMAA) and the Chair of the Australian Dental Association Therapeutics Committee and is a contributing author to the Therapeutic Guidelines: Oral and Dental V3 (2019).

Sue is committed to continuing professional development having been a frequently invited speaker for the Australian Dental Association CPD programs. She has presented at national and international conferences and has generated publications in peer-reviewed journals and has edited and contributed to several Oral Medicine textbooks. She is an Associate Editor of the Journal of Oral Pathology and Medicine. 

Sue's clinical interests include oral mucosal disease, odontogenic and salivary gland pathology, orofacial pain, and temporomandibular dysfunction.

Dr Gregory Lvoff

Ear Nose and Throat Specialist. MB BS (Syd) FRACS, BDS (Hons) (Syd) FRACDS

Dr Greg Lvoff is a graduate in both Medicine and Dentistry from Sydney University. He subsequently completed advanced surgical training in Ear Nose and Throat/Head and Neck Surgery with further training in Maxillofacial Surgery.Greg is the only ENT surgeon in New South Wales to hold a public teaching hospital appointment in both ENT and Maxillofacial Surgery.His special interests are treatment of snoring, Obstructive Sleep Apnoea and nasal obstruction in children and assessment of the airway in children prior to Orthodontic treatment.

Dr Roshanak Boustan

Orthodontist

Roshanak obtained her doctorate of Dental Surgery in 2008, followed by a Master of Science in Orthodontics from King’s College London in 2019. She is a member of Royal college of surgeons of Edinburgh. As a new generation of Orthodontists, she emphasises on digital orthodontics in both clear aligners and pre-adolescent treatment for maximum precision and patient comfort. She utilises the most novel techniques and appliances, from digital smile design to cosmetic laser gum shaping in her orthodontic diagnosis and treatments to deliver a smile tailored to your face with great long-term stability.

Dr Anthony Chellappah

Specialist Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon. MBBS, BDS, BScDent (Hons), FRACDS (OMS)

Dr Anthony Chellappah is one of Australia’s most contemporarily trained Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. With degrees in Dentistry and Medicine and a Fellowship from the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons, he is an expert in the surgical management of conditions affecting the teeth, mouth, jaws and face.

Dr Chellappah has completed over 16 years of study and training in some of the largest tertiary level hospitals in Australia and the United Kingdom. He is registered as a specialist Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon with the Dental and Medical Boards of Australia, practising the full scope of his specialty.

West Indian by birth, Sri Lankan by descent and Australian by choice, Dr Chellappah was raised in Sydney. He qualified in Dentistry from the University of Adelaide in 2009 prior to working in general dental practice in Tamworth. In order to pursue a career in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Dr Chellappah relocated to Queensland to study Medicine at James Cook University, obtaining his qualifications in 2013.

Dr Chellappah then completed his Medical Internship at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital before working as a Principal House Officer in Plastic Surgery and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Ipswich Hospital. This was followed by four years of advanced surgical training in the specialty of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, Princess Alexandra Hospital, Royal Darwin Hospital and the Gold Coast University Hospital.

After completing his training in Australia, Dr Chellappah travelled to London and worked at the prestigious King’s College Hospital to obtain further subspecialty experience in the surgical management of facial trauma and the correction of congenital and acquired craniofacial deformities as the Craniofacial Surgery Fellow, a position accredited by the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh). During this time, at the peak of the initial wave of the COVID-19 pandemic in London, Dr Chellappah was involved in the provision of a surgical tracheostomy service for the most unwell patients affected by COVID-19.

Happily married to his beautiful wife Niv, a desire to be closer to home and offer his family the chance to share the same experiences he did as a child has brought Dr Chellappah back to Sydney where he is pleased to offer comprehensive and high quality Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery services to the residents of the Northern Beaches, delivered in an empathetic and unrushed manner with a focus on excellent communication and patient comfort.

Associate Professor Melanie Aley

Associate Professor Melanie Aley (nee Hayes) is a registered dental hygienist and academic. She is currently the Program Director for the Bachelor of Oral Health at the University of Sydney. She has a PhD and Masters in Education, majoring in Career Development, and has enjoyed a diverse career in clinical practice, teaching, research and management.

Mel is passionate about empowering dental professionals to develop sustainable careers, and has established the Next Step Dental Careers support service.
