Presenter

Marcy Patsanza’s career journey began by qualifying as Dental Hygienist before later pursuing a degree in Psychology. This dual career path has equipped her with a deep understanding of mental health challenges and the complexities of human behaviour. In addition to her work as a dental hygienist, Marcy serves as a Support Facilitator for young people exiting care.

In this role, she provides crucial assistance to youths navigating the challenging transition to independence. Her responsibilities include helping these individuals overcome life barriers, with a strong focus on mental health support. Marcy utilises her empathetic approach and psychological insights to support young people facing significant life challenges.Marcy has committed her career to improving the lives of vulnerable individuals in her current job and previously in her role with the Royal Flying Doctor Service. With a unique blend of expertise in dental hygiene and psychology, Marcy has positioned herself as an advocate in the field of trauma-informed care, particularly in addressing the intersection of mental health and dental health. She understands that dental practitioners are often the first point of contact for individuals who have experienced trauma, and she advocates for a compassionate, informed approach to their treatment.

She is passionately committed to fostering a culture of compassion within her community, where mental well-being is prioritised and stigma is challenged. She is excited for the opportunity to empower her peers with the tools and understanding necessary to offer support and aid to individuals experiencing mental health distress.

Marcy is in the process of completing her Postgraduate studies in Psychology and aspires to further her education by pursuing a Master's degree, with the ultimate goal of becoming a registered psychologist in the near future.
