The Dental Implant Registry - utilisation in Australia and New Zealand, and how it relates to hygienists
The dental implant registry is a dental implant device registry that captures dental implant related data and allows for both clinicians and patients to recall this data via a centralised database. This improves transparency for patients and access to clinicians when treating patients for maintenance and complications. Hygienists and therapists play vital roles in educating patients about the health of their dental implant and the need for regular reviews, and act as early sentinels for implant complications of which can be assisted by the dental implant registry, given so many implants cannot be easily identified, especially when patients move to a new practice or location.
Topics to be covered include:
- Understand what the registry is
- How it’s utilised in the dental practice
- How it benefits the patient and the dental professionals (both clinical and administrative)
