We return to the lovely Duxton Living Room for an informative and interactive update presented by Susan Pelengaris.

Susan will clarify the 6 Anxiety Disorder classifications and introduce the audience to the use of Eye Movement, Desensitiation and Reprocessing (EMDR). A psychotherapy treatment that has evolved to facilitate the accessing and processing of traumatic memories and other adverse life experiences to bring these to an adaptive resolution.

The inaugural ‘Tammie Birch Inspirational Award’ will be presented to the winner this evening.

Susan Pelengaris

BSc (Hons.) Psychology, MSc (Counselling Psychology), Post MSc (Counselling and Psychotherapy) London UK, APS Registered Psychologist, Full Mbr. AHPRA and MAPS.
Susan has experience in the UK of being on Recruitment and Selection Assessment Centres for employment and in working as a clinician in the NHS Mental Health Teams in inner London. She also worked with patients from Greenwich District hospital’s suicide team. In the NHS she was assigned seven large NHS Doctor’s practices where it was her role to see the GP’s referred patients, clinically, for CBT strategies and skills.
In Canberra Susan has been a Clinical Manager of an EAP House overseeing 30 Government Departments Mental Health contracts and 10 staff for 7 years. She has experience of dealing with critical incidents; carried out psycho-¬educational mental health training for employees; undertaken work place mediations and work place dispute resolution; undertaken work place coaching for senior executives and worked with underperforming staff.
Susan also has worked as a psychologist in the Canberra Hospital’s Pain Management Unit and also worked for Beyondblue in delivering their psycho-¬educational mental health programs for private industry and in Government Departments. She is also trained as a Rehabilitation Psychologist by Comcare.
Susan is currently working in the field of EMDR (Eye Movement) for Anxiety Disorders, Addictions and Trauma (PTSD) and Personal Injury or Accident Trauma.
