Alyson McKinlay

Tasmanian Director

Rural and Remote portfolio

Alyson has been involved in Oral Health since 1980. After Graduation from Westmead in Sydney as a Dental Therapist in 1982 Alyson worked in rural and remote locations in NSW, Northern Territory and Qld before undertaking the Academic Upgrade with UQ & QUT in 1999 graduating in 2001.

Practicing as an OHT in Wide Bay Region of Qld Alyson was involved in the 0-5 programme targeting early childhood caries in an effort to reduce GA sessions in Maryborough-Hervey Bay. Alyson moved to Tasmania in September 2003 to practice at Prime Dental as a Dental Hygienist and still retains the same position. A thorough enjoyment in clinical practice and the variety each day presents keeps her motivation high.

Alyson became involved with DHAA via the Tasmanian branch as Vice President in 2004 then as President from 2006 until 2014 just prior to the national restructuring. When the call came for Tasmanian support in 2018 felt perhaps previous experience could be advantageous so once again volunteered.
