The Australian Oral Health Score Card - Dr Elizabeth Milford
Day by day in our clinic we witness the oral health challenges and successes of our patients. When we look at the trends across the nation, the numbers might surprise you. Participants will learn the latest data on oral health of Australians, gain an insight into trends in oral health in Australia, explore ways to help patients manage their oral health. We know that many oral diseases are preventable, but how are we really going? This lecture looks at the oral health data for Australia, and what we can do to improve it.

TMJ & Pain Management - Dr Julian Oronos
This lecture consists of common signs and symptoms of temporomandibular disorders (TMD), how to manage patients with TMD in a hygiene appointment, points of discussion and referral pathways.

Impacted Teeth, Where Are They, How to Avoid Them & What to Do About Them! - Dr Chelsea Mann
Impacted teeth can cause considerable issues for mastication as well as aesthetic issues for children and young adults. It remains one of the most common yet less understood aspects in the developing dentition. Steps to reveal hidden impactions and to prevent the development of unnecessary impactions will be discussed. Innovative approaches to avoid and resolve impactions will be followed through clinical scenarios and cases studies.

Diabetes Education & Referral Pathways - Isabel Reeves
This lecture explores what is a diabetes educator, what is a credentialed diabetes educator, what can a diabetes educator do and when you would refer to a DE, how to refer as well as signs and symptoms of diabetes relating to gum health

About Our Speakers:

 

Dr Elizabeth Milford
Dr Elizabeth Milford is a national speaker and mentor. She is committed to helping dental clinicians translate the latest oral health and prevention research into clinical practice. Dr Milford lectures with the University of Melbourne, is a volunteer at the Royal Flying Doctors Queensland, and is the Professional and Scientific Relations Consultant for Oral-B ANZ.

Dr Chelsea Mann
BDS, BScDent(Hons) DClinDent(Ortho) MRACDS(Ortho)
Chelsea is a specialist orthodontist involved with multidisciplinary treatment care. She was conferred her undergraduate dentistry and first class honours degrees at the University of Adelaide, being awarded the prestigious University Medal. After practicing general dentistry, she completed her specialist orthodontic training at the University of Sydney. She has been involved with dental education at both undergraduate and post-graduate levels, including a period teaching orthodontics to registered dentists at the Sydney Dental Hospital. Her publications are featured in peer-reviewed international journals including the Journal of Dentistry, Journal of Dental Research, Progress in Orthodontics and American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics as well as featured on Australian news, CNN in USA and Bite magazine.

Dr Julian Oronos
Julian grew up and studied in Cairns, graduating from James Cook University in 2018. He moved to Canberra in 2020 to escape the humidity and has been working as a TMJ Dental Clinician at TMJ Clinics (Deakin) since moving to Canberra, trained by A/Prof Dylan Hyam and Dr Samuel Kim (OMFS). He also works at Preventive Dentistry (Braddon) as a general dentist. 

Isabel Reeves
 Isabel is a registered nurse and Credentialed Diabetes Educator. Isabel works privately in Canberra where is is the sole proprietor and educator at InRange Diabetes, specialising in type 1 diabetes and supporting these individuals and their families to manage their condition well. Isabel also works at Queanbeyan hospital where she can see NSW residents and support them with their diabetes. At Queanbeyan, Isabel sees all clients with diabetes. Isabel's aim is to support her clients from a holistic perspective and give them the tools they need or the support they need to live life to the fullest with their diabetes along for the ride.

You can still attend our events by creating a purchase account at the link above. This will be a non-member account where you can register for events and track your event registrations. It does not allow you access to member benefits or the members portal, these are only accessible by joining as a DHAA member.

  • DHAA Event Regulations

    • DHAA Members - To obtain the discounted DHAA Ltd Membership price you are required to be a financial member of the DHAA Ltd at the time of the event.

      Student Members - Student Members must be an eligible and current student member of the DHAA Ltd at the time of the event Student Membership expires June 30th following your graduation. Student Membership to the DHAA Ltd is Free.

      ADOHTA Members - All ADOHTA members are required to show proof of membership to ADOHTA. You are required to be a current member at the time of the event to either DHAA Ltd or ADOHTA inc. To access the discounted price please create an account and email proof of current membership to [email protected]. We will update your account to display the correct registration price for the duration of the membership period displayed in your proof of membership.

      Dietary Requirements - We will attempt to accommodate all dietary requirements. Please ensure you specify any dietary restrictions when registering and at least seven (7) days prior to the event so we can notify the event catering team. 

      Photography Policy - The DHAA reserve the right to take photographs and videos for publicity, illustration, advertising, web content and reports on events and symposia. These images will not be shared directly with any other business without prior consent. If you would prefer your image NOT be used, then please notify us in advance, in writing, of the event that you are attending to [email protected]

      Event Cancellation Policy

      If you are cancelling your registration to attend an event please contact us at [email protected]

      If notification is received:

      More than 5 working days before the event:

      - A partial refund less a cancellation fee of 10% of the registration fee will be given.

      Less than 5 working days before the event:

      - Event registration fees will not be refunded 5 working days from the event as catering will have been finalised and therefore incurred non-refundable costs to the DHAA.

      Alternatively, the event registration may be transferred to another person of the same DHAA membership status up to 24 hours prior to the event - please contact [email protected] to arrange a transfer.

      Non Attendance
      If a registered attendee fails to attend an event for which they have registered, the event registration fees will not be refunded.

      COVID-safe and booking with confidence
      We know that the world has changed and there is always going to be uncertainty around events in the age of a pandemic, so here is our approach to making this work:

      - The event will be fully COVID-safe and compliant above and beyond any basic government health requirements to do what we reasonably can to protect your health and safety and that of all attendees. That will include appropriate social distancing and other measures.
      - COVID event cancellation: if the event is cancelled or has to be moved due to COVID issues, we will offer you a full refund. - If you’re unwell please contact us at [email protected] for assistance.
