Emerging and Re-Emerging Infectious Diseases, an update for the Oral Health Team.

 

This presentation provides an update for the dental team on the infectious and communicable diseases which are currently on the legislated list of nationally notifiable diseases; including airborne infections including COVID-19 and Tuberculosis; and the recently resurgent sexually- transmitted infections including Mpox, Syphilis and Chlamydia.

Learning objectives

This presentation will discuss their oral manifestations, patient management from the dental perspective, and the measures available to protect your patients, yourselves and your dental team.

Speaker 

David Joo is a registrar in Oral Medicine at the University of Sydney currently in his final year of training.

He completed his Bachelor of Dental Science at the University of Queensland in 2012, and a PhD in dental biomaterials, also from the University of Queensland in 2018.
